life: a daily photo

Catalina, CA
August 13, 2009

The captain of our boat said this pod of hundreds (maybe over a thousand) dolphin was the largest he’d ever seen.  Dolphins raced and leaped through waves as my sister and I made our way to Catalina to kayak for the day. We were surrounded and the water shimmered with grey’s as far as your eye could see.  It was remarkable.

It’s as if these dolphins were saying, “Welcome to our neck of the woods.  So nice to meet you.  Why don’t you stop and play for a while.”  So, we did.
